Buffer the Burn Bundle
£34.99
Inside and out buffering
Three Products. Two buffers. One burn.
When you push hard, your muscles produce acid faster than they can clear it. That is the burn, and it is one factor that causes you to slow down.
To get to the finish line faster, it helps to reduce the production of the acid, and to buffer any acid produced. Your body can buffer in two places: inside the muscle cell and in the blood around it. Beta-Alanine supports the first and sodium bicarbonate helps the second. Together they give you buffering power inside and out.
Intracellular · Inside the muscle
Beta-Alanine
Helps increase carnosine inside the muscle
Beta-Alanine is the building block of carnosine, a buffer stored inside your muscle cells. Taken daily, it helps raise carnosine levels so acid is neutralised right where it is produced, during surges, sprints and finishes.
It is a slow build, not a quick hit: the benefit comes from consistent daily use over several weeks.

Mango BICARRB
Raises bicarbonate in the blood
Bicarbonate is your main buffer outside the muscle. A pre-session dose of BICARRB raises blood bicarbonate, helping draw buffer the acid that builds up in hard efforts, so you can hold on for longer.
Bicarbonate has been shown to improve performance by up to 3%. Our energy mix makes it easier on the stomach.

ITC Shot
Isothiocyanates from broccoli sprouts
Each shot contains a high dose of bioavailable isothiocyanates (ITCs) extracted from broccoli sprouts. Emerging research suggests that ITCs may help athletes sustain high-intensity efforts and recover more effectively between hard sessions.

How they work together
Because they work in different places and on different timescales, the three products complement each other rather than overlap. Both bicarb and beta-alanine are among the five supplements the IOC recognises as performance enhancing, and research is emerging around ITCs.
-
Load Beta-Alanine
Take 4g of Beta-Alanine every day, training day or not. Load for 6 to 10 weeks to build up your muscle carnosine levels.
-
Test BICARRB & Use ITC Shot in key sessions
Try your BICARRB before your hardest training sessions to get used to the protocol. Use ITC Shot 3hrs before hard training sessions to stack performance gains over a block.
-
Use BICARRB and ITC Shot on race day
Take ITC Shot 3 hours before, and BICARRB 2 hours before your race. Repeat the routine you tested in training.
The Blue Paper covers Beta-Alanine, the White Paper covers bicarbonate.
