FLYCARB at the Belfast Classic

Yesterday, we were back at the Belfast Classic, an event that perfectly combines top-class athletics as part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger series with a proper community feel.

You really can’t beat the Northern Irish welcome from Eamonn Christie and the team. We had an amazing day speaking to athletes and, even better, seeing so many FLYCARB-fuelled PBs throughout the day.

Our personal highlight was helping pace Henry McLuckie as he broke the legendary Steve Ovett’s 39-year-old stadium 3000m record. The old record stood at 7:44.83; Henry ran a staggering 7:43.64!

We definitely needed the BICARB ourselves, backing that up by pacing two more 3000m races at 2:47/km and 2:55/km pace.

It was great to reconnect with so many regulars and meet plenty of new faces. The growth over the last year has been fantastic to witness, with us selling almost double the stock compared to last year.

Reflecting on the company’s journey since our last visit, we’ve gained Informed Sport certification, launched new flavours, and expanded into so many new countries and sports. Through all the growth, we still love coming to these meets, helping pace new PBs, and talking with everyone. It is without doubt the best part of our job.

Thank you, Belfast. Same again next year? 🥣
