A Night of 10,000m Racing with FLYCARB

When we heard that the Night of 10,000m PBs would be taking another fallow year, we decided it was time to step up.

Last night was the culmination of that hard work. 100 athletes lined up across five races (two 10,000m races and three 1500m races), to finish the track season with a bang.

In the A 10,000m, Tom Butler stormed to victory in 29:28, breaking the track record and becoming the fifth-fastest British man over 10,000m on UK soil in 2026. Local legend Nathan Mapperely led the chasing pack home in 29:57, with six athletes dipping under 31 minutes.

The B 10,000m brought another flurry of PBs, with Freya Weddell taking the win in a superb 34:31, also the fifth-fastest 10,000m by a British woman on UK soil this year.

The 1500m races were equally action-packed. Aurelio Fletcher won the sub-five-minute race with a big PB of 4:51, before Tom Vickery took the B race in 4:03, placing him among the UK’s fastest V40 athletes this year. In the final 1500m, Pete Cameron unleashed a sensational finishing kick to win in 3:51.0, leading seven athletes to sub-four-minute clockings!
